Ok - The first attempt failed due to work, laziness, life etc...

But this one will work ...

It is from Cycling Weekly 'Hills for beginners'

 It has to.

 A quick 'one liner' and other comments as the training goes on (or not) and, occasionaly an updated picture ..

And some of the routes as Google Earth Files are at the bottom of the page.

 

The Holiday Comedy Bike ...

Training Log:

23 June: 

  • Target:  90 Min Easy with 3 * 10 Min Brisk seated Climbs. 
  • Done and thank goodness the Heart Rate Monitor was broken!  Max speed 39 mph downhill.  Min speed 4 mph uphill!

24 June: 

  • Target: 30 Mins Cross Trainer
  • Done.  Farklet too!

25 June: 

  • Target:  90 Min Easy with 3 * 10 Min Brisk seated Climbs. 
  • Done - Ouch!

26 June: 

  • Target: Bleep Test (Green for my Age without being sick)
  • Done - Ouchtastsic (Stiff Ankle) but still 7-07, 29 & 29 so 'OK'

27 June: 

  • 90 Min Easy with a 25 Min 'Brisk bit' 
  • A Late night (10pm) 45 Min & 2 Hills and 750kCal

28 June: 

  • 3-4 Hrs !!! with 4-5 Hills done seated briskly!  This route will need a bit of thought.
  • Close:  4 Hills and 2:05 (ish), 43Km at an average of 21Km / Hr and 1800 kCal and a Max Hr of 167.....

30 June- 10 July:

  • Off with a 'stiff' ankle and 'family' stuff

11 July:

  • 30 minutes Cross Trainer (Farklet) and 30 Minutes Gym Bike ... Oh Oh

12 July:

  • Nil - Family Stuff

 13 July:

  • 30 Minutes, 1 Hill on my 'Holiday' folding bike Ho Ho Ow

 14 July:

  • 45 Minutes, 3 Hills.  

 16 July:

  • 15 Jul - TFD
  • 45 Minutes, 3 Hills.  Nearly bike fit again.

 17 July:

  • 50km, 2 1/4 Hrs at an average of 22 kmh  (including 18 minutes 'rest') and about 2000 Calories ..
  • Into the thunderstorms
  • And 30 minutes cross trainer.

 18 July:

  • 50km, 3 Hrs (excluding a stop for a Big Coffee) and 2 Hrs with a 25 mph to 35 mph Headwind .  Weary drudgery and slog.
  • But the Hearty Rate was lower sdo overal 2400 (ish) Calories and that's 100km in 5 1/4 Hrs (Ok on the flat) so fingers crossed.
  • Now to do that in a day, every day for a fortnight in the hills....

 20 July:

  • Jobs but 4 Hills in the evening - and why did I feel safer on the London Roads?

 21 July:

  • 30 Mins Cross Trainer Farklet

 22 July:

  • 1 Hour, 3 Hills, 1 Stop to let the ambulance pass, 1 Dash through Waitrose for Bread (You get funny looks in hot and sticky cycling kit as a would be OAP.) About 1000 Cal and a 'Dear John to the bike for a fortnight'.
